Privacy policy

What this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Written to match how the site is actually built, not copied from a template.

Last updated 25 August 2026

This policy explains how Giftz handles personal information. It is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It describes this website as it is actually built. It does not list tools we do not use.

Who is responsible

Giftz is published by ZAIQ, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. ZAIQ is the responsible party for the personal information described below. Adam Sacharowitz handles privacy questions for the site.

The short version

  • This site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no forms.
  • It sets no cookies of its own, and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
  • It loads no fonts, scripts, images or embeds from any other company. Everything is served from this site.
  • The only personal information involved is what our hosting provider records automatically in its server logs, and anything you choose to put in an email to us.

Information collected automatically

Like every website, this one is served by a hosting company. Our host is Vercel Inc.. When your browser requests a page, their servers record a standard access log. That log can include:

  • your IP address
  • the date and time of the request
  • the page or file you requested
  • your browser type and version, and your operating system
  • the page that referred you, if your browser sent one

An IP address can count as personal information under POPIA, so we treat it that way. This information is collected by the host, not by us, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or to identify you. It exists so that the site can be delivered, kept online, and protected from attack and abuse. It is held for a short period under the host's own retention settings and then deleted.

Our host operates infrastructure in the United States and elsewhere, so this technical log data may be processed outside South Africa. POPIA permits this where the receiving party is subject to laws or binding agreements that provide comparable protection. Our host commits to such terms contractually.

Information you give us

The only way to send us anything is to email us. If you do, we hold your email address, your name if you sign it, and whatever you wrote, for as long as we need it to deal with your message and to keep a record of it. We do not add you to a mailing list, because we do not have one. We do not sell, rent or share your email with anyone.

Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies. It uses no local storage, no pixels, no fingerprinting, no session tracking and no analytics of any kind. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to. The cookie policy explains this in full, including what happens when you click a link to another company's website.

Links to other websites

This site links out to shops and other websites. Some of those links may be affiliate links, as set out in our affiliate disclosure. Once you click through, you are on a website we do not own or control. That company decides what it collects, what cookies it sets and what it does with your information. Their privacy policy applies, not this one. We never receive your name, your address, your payment details or your order details from them.

Children

This site is written for adults doing their own shopping. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. It is a set of static pages with no database, no user accounts and no payment processing, which means there is very little personal information to lose in the first place. That is a deliberate design choice.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep
  • object to our processing of your information on reasonable grounds
  • complain to the Information Regulator

To use any of these rights, email hello@zaiq.ai. We will answer within a reasonable time and will not charge you for a straightforward request.

Complaining to the regulator

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa:

Regulator contact details read from inforegulator.org.za on 24 August 2026.

Changes to this policy

If the site changes in a way that affects this policy, for example if we add a contact form or a newsletter, we will update this page before that change goes live and change the date at the top.
